Peer Leadership Training (PLT)

PLT is another innovative program for youth and young adults who have reached personal leadership—body mind and spirit goals for themselves who want to turn their attention outward to engage in community leadership. Opportunities for young adults include participating in the Minneapolis Youth Council, participating in Student Council and Peer Mediation at their school, participating as outreach workers for the COD and volunteering on community committees such as Phillips Weed & Seed and Midtown Safety Center committees; and at community events, including but not limited to the Hip-Hop Conference hosted by Yo! The Movement, World of Whittier Family Fair, Teen Opportunity Job Fair, Phillips Youth Summit and Mexican Independence Day.

In addition, COD youth and young adult participate on the Guiding Principles (GP) Council (a youth council), which assists in policy-making, program operations, development and evaluation. The GP Council elects two GP Officers to represent the GP Council on the COD Board of Directors.
